YOUTH EDUCATION Return to: Calvary Home Page Sunday School Page Info on Special Sunday Events

At Calvary, Sunday School is "Funday" School! Our goal is to teach our faith in an exciting, enjoyable atmosphere. Come on Sundays from 9:45 - 10:45 AM:
For the infants... Room # 202
During the Sunday School hour, there is nursery care available for infants through 23 months of age. The staff provides care for children so that parents can participate in the adult Sunday School classes or can be a teacher or helper with any of the classes. Register your child when you need nursery care.
For preschool children…. Room # 203
Children ages 2-5 years are eligible to join the preschool Sunday School class. Our dedicated and committed leaders will welcome them to play, to sing, to worship, to hear the stories of the Bible and share the messages with them. They will pray with the children and help them to understand that God loves each and every one of them.
The curriculum for this class will be “Faith Weaver” from Group Publishing. The fall curriculum will focus on the stories of Moses and Joshua and will teach the children that God will help them when they are afraid, God will provide all they need. They will also learn how to honor and praise God. In the winter quarter, the children will celebrate the birth of Jesus, learn ways to show love for Jesus and learn how to treat others with love. In the spring quarter, the emphasis will focus on following Jesus and learning the good news of Easter.
For elementary students….
There are four classes on the elementary level:
Kindergarten & Grade 1 Room # 108
1st & 2nd grades Room # 109
3rd & 4th grades Room # 111
5th & 6th grades Room # 110
All classes will be using the Faith Weaver curriculum from Group Publishing. The stories will be the same as the preschool classes but will challenge our students to a deeper understanding of the stories and challenge them to follow more closely in Jesus’ footsteps.
Children in grade three receive a New Revised Standard Version of the Bible as a gift from the education department on Christian Education Sunday (second Sunday in September). Students in grades three through six are encouraged to bring their Bibles to Sunday School each Sunday so that they can use them as they study the stories of the Bible.
Students in grades 4-6 are encouraged to memorize the 23rd Psalm. When they can repeat this to their Sunday School teacher, they can have their name engraved on their Bible.
For our youth….
Confirmation Room # 107
Students in seventh grade are invited to join the Confirmation Class - a nine month study year where they will have the opportunity to become members of the church. This requires a commitment to regular attendance at Sunday School and at the Sunday morning worship services. It also requires study and involvement in activities of the church.
8th - 12th grade class Room # 106
Food, fun, friendships - some of the reasons youth gather together each Sunday morning. What motivates you to be part of this group? What challenges you to get to know others from different school districts? Calvary Church brings together youth from many school districts - east shore and west shore which makes the forming of close ties very difficult if youth do not gather together each week. Challenge yourself to get out of bed, get a ride to church and join the class for discussion on timely topics with an emphasis on the solid rock of our faith.
For our college students…..
College Age Student Fellowship Room # 113 Sunday, December 19 (with possible additional dates as decided by the group)
Have you missed seeing your friends since you graduated from high school? Do you miss Youth Fellowship? Now you have the chance to reconnect! Join us for friends, food, fellowship & faith discussion.
