| CAROL & CHIME CHOIR
REGISTRATION FORM
Cherub Choir/Preschool Music - For children ages 2 or 3 through Kindergarten. The Cherub Choir rehearses during Sunday School on selected Sundays. The choir prepares songs for the Sunday School Program in the Spring. The Choir is designed to introduce children to their role in the worship service as a member of a choir. The songs which are learned also reinforce the lessons the children learn in Sunday School. By working together as a group, the children grow both musically and personally.
Carol
Choir - All children from Kindergarten
through Sixth Grade are invited to share God's Word
with others by being a part of the Carol Choir. The
choir participates in both worship services on the
fourth Sunday of each month and in special services
throughout the year. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday
(September - May), in the choir room or sanctuary.
The choir also participates in special services such
as Christmas Eve and the Fine Arts Christmas Concert.
The Carol Choir continues to educate children in the
use of music as a worship and teaching tool. The children
learn the role of a choir in worship, both as leaders
of the worship service and as a means glorifying God.
The choir allows children to learn about God and their
relationship with God through music. There are opportunities
for the children to choose songs that they would like
to sing and share them with the group. They are also
encouraged to share other musical talents with the
group like playing a piano or other musical instrument.
All children are able to take a leadership role
in the choir by leading each other in hymns on selected
evenings. By working together as a group to strengthen
their musical skills, the children learn the value
of cooperation and teamwork in a faith community.

interested youth meets to rehearse on Wednesdays
at 7:30 PM. Chancel Choir sings at the 8:30 AM service
on the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month,
and at the 11:00 AM service on the second and fouth

Handbell
Choirs - The Handbell program at Calvary
Church was established in July 1981, with a 3 octave
set of bells given as a memorial gift, together
with the leadership of Linda D. Lee and a handful
of interested people. Two months later, the Bells
of Calvary choir was formed, commenced regular weekly
rehearsals and performed on an irregular schedule.
It eventually became necessary to have backup ringers
and so on Oct 1, 1984 the Tintinnabulators Choir
was organized to train beginners, both youth and
adult. The Tintinnabulators soon became a performing
choir with an identity of their own. In 1988 a third
choir for children formed, 'The Chimes'. As the
number of ringers grew, the equipment also expanded.
Through memorial or honorarium gifts, the members
of Calvary Church demonstrated their love of "the
music of the bells" by generously providing music
folders, stands, fabric and new bells. Sometimes
a whole set of extra bells was provided, other times
a single bell. Today our ringers ring 5 octaves
of handbells and 4 octaves of Choirchimes. The music
of Calvary's handbell choirs has served as an inspiration
to many for almost twenty years. In addition to
regular service to Calvary Church, the bells have
an active outreach program in the community. Area
churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, civic
gatherings and the Governor's Mansion have all been
inspired by the music of the bells through the years.
Several new handbell programs have been established
in other churches with assistance from our ringers
and directors.
